Local Community Information

Founded in 1861, Menominee is the southernmost city in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.  Local industries include, among others, paper products, furniture, industrial and automotive parts, hardwood flooring, and helicopters. Shopping at a variety of specialty stores is made easy, as many shops are located within walking distance from the Marina in Menominee’s Historic Waterfront Downtown.  Within walking distance are the Menominee County Historical Museum; Spies Public Library; Swings-N-Things Playground; three swimming beaches; a large park with picnic area; and Menominee’s icon, Menominee North Pier Light, otherwise known as the Menominee Lighthouse, which guides ships into the international port of Marinette/Menominee.

Throughout the summer the Marina/Historic Waterfront Downtown District is home to the Concerts In The Park series held at the Menominee Band Shell on selected Thursday evenings. Other recreation activities abound throughout Menominee/Marinette including the M & M YMCA and numerous parks throughout the Twin Cities. The area also has several golf courses to challenge your game, and the waters off the Marina offer some of the best fishing opportunities in the Midwest.

Several major activities take place in the Historic Waterfront Downtown, at the Marina, or in the adjacent park during the summer and fall such as the Wednesday Night Fun (sailboat) Races; Menominee Historic Downtown Farmers’ Market; LeowStrong Bike Ride (formerly Menominee River Century Bike Ride); Kids’ Fishing Derby; Art for All; Harmony (religious music concert); Fourth of July Fireworks; Bay Jammers (Sea Scout and Mariner Scout competition); 100-Miler sailboat race; Brown Trout Fishing Derby; the annual Menominee Waterfront Festival, which draws large attendance and features numerous food booths, live bands, spectacular fireworks, along with the largest parade in the Upper Peninsula; M & M Auto Club Auto & Cycle Show; as well as the Giant Pumpkin Festival.

Getting to Menominee is easy either by boat, land, or air. The Twin Cities are served by U.S. 41 and are less than an hour’s drive north of Green Bay. The Menominee Regional Airport is only a short distance away from the Marina.

From morning to evening and after, your stay at the Menominee Marina will be enjoyable. Our staff is always willing to help ensure that your experience will be one to remember.
